United Nations Association Honors Community Foundation’s Bold Local Impact

November 2, 2020

Changing the world can start with changing our community.

The Community Foundation of Broward’s bold efforts to shape a brighter future for the place we call home were recently honored by the United Nations Association’s Broward chapter.

United Nations Association chapters across the country work at the local level to promote UN goals such as overcoming poverty, fostering good health, taking action on climate change and other efforts to support sustainable development.

Many of these bold goals align with life-changing philanthropy taking place through the Community Foundation. Help for struggling families to become self-sufficient, dynamic strategies to boost high school graduation rates, support to protect Broward’s fragile environment – these are just a few examples of bold local impact made possible by support from charitable Funds at the Community Foundation.

The Community Foundation of Broward is among the United Nations Association's 2020 honorees for supporting the fight against poverty, hunger and other sustainable development efforts.

As a result, we were proud to be among the Broward organizations honored during the Oct. 22 UN Day Celebration. The first ever virtual UN Day Celebration was held via Zoom meeting, honoring organizations with a track record of supporting the UN’s sustainable development goals.

This honor from the United Nations Association has provided a unique opportunity for the Community Foundation’s efforts on behalf of our Fundholders to receive local, national and international recognition.

During these challenging times – when a worldwide pandemic makes everything from poverty to climate change seem more daunting – the UN Day Celebration provides a welcome reminder of how philanthropy has the power to make a real difference.

Thanks to visionary local philanthropists who create endowed charitable Funds at the Community Foundation, we will always be there to tackle Broward’s big challenges – during this crisis and beyond.
