Grants from the Community Foundation support innovative opportunities to transform lives, champion equity and shape a brighter future for Broward.
Thanks to support from our Fundholders, we offer:
- Rolling grants for our critical focus areas
- Small grants to give a boost to emerging nonprofits
- Big Think grants for collaborations to create systemic change

Here’s how our grants work
- Nonprofits with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status to provide services to Broward County as well as city and county agencies can apply for grants. Individuals are not eligible.
- We offer rolling grants, available throughout the year for critical focus areas; small grants, available in the fall and spring for emerging nonprofits; and Big Think grants, for collaborations to create systemic change.
- We prioritize grantmaking opportunities that support Racial Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
Our six grantmaking focus areas
Help Broward’s youth gain critical skills to shape their lives and future careers through opportunities to: access and attain academic achievement, explore and pursue career paths, and develop interpersonal and life skills. Learn more
Empower hardworking residents to move to financial stability and have a strong economic foundation to break the cycle of poverty. Learn more
Improve health equity and well-being in Broward by building a culture of health across all populations and communities, while also creating a resilient and sustainable environment. Learn more
Expand, elevate and sustain a vibrant arts community and increase exposure of unique historical and cultural experiences to all residents. Learn more
Dismantle systems of racial inequality and social injustice to create a more equitable and inclusive community for all residents through systemic, sustainable and scalable change. Grant applications for this focus area are available by invitation only. Learn more
Be a local resource for nonprofit professionals and volunteers to access information, tools and support to advance their leadership, strengthen their organizational capacity and help make a greater impact on critical issues in Broward. Grants Portal
Emerging Nonprofits: Consider our new Small Grants
New “Small Grants” from the Community Foundation make it easier for emerging nonprofits to get a boost of funding to maintain or expand their vital community services.
- Small Grants range from $2,500 to $25,000
- They are available to Broward nonprofits with a less than $500,000 operating budget and at least two years of local operating experience
- Priority is given to minority-led nonprofits that help Broward residents overcome barriers to success

Big Think Grants: Supporting transformative Collaborations
"Big Think Grants" from the Community Foundation support innovative collaborations that create systemic change in one of these focus areas: Education & Youth Enrichment; Social & Economic Mobility; Healthy & Thriving Communities; or Art & Culture.
- BOLD, transformative projects that involve two or more collaborators.
- Eligible for multi-year grants of up to three years, with flexible amounts available based on project needs.

STORIES OF IMPACT
Health Hub: Tackling health inequity in our community
To address health inequities in South Broward, the Community Foundation is working with a mission-driven coalition of front-line nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and neighborhood leaders.
We launched the South Broward Community Health Hub to cultivate and support opportunities to eliminate food deserts, expand access to healthcare, and improve the overall health of residents.
