The Association of Fundraising Professionals has honored Linda B. Carter, former Community Foundation of Broward President/CEO, with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Linda B. Carter’s bold service to the community she loves has been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Linda retired in August after 23 years as President/CEO of the Community Foundation of Broward, capping a career dedicated to fostering local philanthropy in Broward.

Linda’s career “exemplifies the philanthropic spirit,” according to the Association of Fundraising Professional’s Fort Lauderdale/Broward chapter. For example, Linda’s leadership in Broward:

  • Sparked foster care reform to create a safety net that helps young people succeed.
  • Helped decrease HIV/AIDS infection rates among newborns.
  • Galvanized support to reauthorize the Children’s Services Council.
  • Championed the push for more endowed resources to tackle Broward’s Issues That Matter.
  • And much, much more!

The Association of Fundraising Professionals honored Linda’s accomplishments at the 33rd Annual National Philanthropy Day Celebration – held this year via video conference to stay safe during the pandemic.

“Philanthropy has made my life a wonderful experience,” Linda said during the virtual gathering. “Philanthropy means that status quo is not good enough. That there’s a way to make the community better, stronger.”

In addition to thanking the AFP for the honor, Linda also credited the Board members, local philanthropists and colleagues she has worked with through the years as well as her family for making her efforts to champion local philanthropy possible.

“Together we have made this a better place,” Linda said.
