The Community Foundation of Broward and The Our Found Foundation awarded $300,000 in new grants in an ongoing collaboration to support social justice and equity for Broward’s LGBTQ+ community.
Since its inception in 2022, this grantmaking collaborative has awarded more than $1.21 million in a continued commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in our community.
This year, 13 nonprofits – vetted by a joint selection committee – are receiving grants ranging from $15,000 to $35,000 each to support the LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, education, community outreach, mentoring, the arts, anti-bullying youth programs and more.
This strategic grantmaking partnership brings together the resources, reach and expertise of both foundations to support innovative projects addressing discrimination and disparities impacting the LGBTQ+ community in Broward County.
“Nationally and here at home, the LGBTQ+ community is in the crosshairs,” said David Jobin, president and CEO of The Our Fund Foundation. “Florida is ground zero for harmful policies and funding cuts that threaten our safety and future. We are deeply grateful to our donors who recognize the urgency of this moment and the need for a strong philanthropic response.”
Grant recipients were honored at a reception hosted at the Community Foundation on April 27.
“Philanthropy has the power to bring people together and drive meaningful change, and we are proud to support organizations that are advancing equality and opportunity for the LGBTQ community,” said Community Foundation President/CEO Jennifer O'Flannery Anderson, Ph.D. “Our role is to help amplify their impact, connecting resources with vision and leadership, so that Broward continues to grow as a place where everyone belongs and can thrive.”
