The Community Foundation of Broward’s new Broward Pride report showcases how for more than 40 years we have stood alongside the LGBTQ+ community – providing leadership, partnership and sustained philanthropic support to tackle big challenges and shape a brighter future.
In 1986, the two-year-old Community Foundation became the first nongovernment funder in Broward to lead the charge for education and understanding of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. In the decades since then, we have awarded more than $11 million in grants to support the LGBTQ+ community on a wide range of issues, including healthcare, advocacy, education, community outreach, the arts, youth programs, housing, legal aid and more.
It’s all made possible by dedicated local philanthropists partnering with us to support opportunities to make Broward a more equitable, vibrant and welcoming place to call home.
This publication reflects both how far we have come and the work that lies ahead to champion support for the LGBTQ+ community. It reaffirms our commitment to invest in solutions, elevate voices and strengthen pathways to opportunity.
