The Community Foundation of Broward is proud to announce Kelly Marmol as the new Vice President of Philanthropic Services.

Kelly brings more than 20 years of financial services and nonprofit development experience to her new role championing philanthropy through the Community Foundation.

Kelly leads a team that fosters and grows the culture of philanthropy in Broward. By forging partnerships with individuals, families and organizations to create charitable funds at the Community Foundation, Kelly and her team grow endowed philanthropic resources that help Broward today and for generations to come.

“I’m honored to join the Community Foundation’s talented team and to collaborate with philanthropists dedicated to making Broward a better place to call home,” Kelly said. “It’s thrilling to be a part of local philanthropy that helps people and transforms our community.”

After a decade working as a financial advisor, Kelly’s passion for helping others led to a career fostering philanthropy that supports education, social and economic mobility, the environment and health care. Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Kelly held senior development positions at Florida Atlantic University, the University of Miami, Methodist Children’s Home Society and Oakland University, raising resources for youth enrichment, student success and life-changing research projects.

At the Community Foundation, Kelly leads outreach to local philanthropists who want to invest in making their community the best it can be. Kelly and her team collaborate with Broward’s professional advisors to craft philanthropy plans to achieve their clients’ charitable goals. Kelly also guides the BE BOLD Leadership Campaign, launched in 2018 to build an endowment able to serve Broward’s fast-growing needs.

“Kelly’s experience, leadership skills and gracious personality are a natural fit to help grow the Community Foundation’s impact for the community we love,” said Community Foundation President/CEO Jennifer O’Flannery Anderson, Ph.D. “We are thrilled to have her leading our Philanthropic Services Team.”

Kelly takes the reins of the Philanthropic Services Team from Nancy Thies, who chose to take a new role tackling special Community Foundation initiatives so that she can spend more time with her family. As Philanthropic Services Executive, Nancy builds support for the Foundation’s Broward Center for Nonprofit Excellence, fosters multi-generation family philanthropy and leads outreach to new residents.

Nancy’s many accomplishments during her seven years at the Community Foundation include launching the BE BOLD Leadership Campaign, which under her guidance has raised more than $300 million in new and planned gifts. Thanks to Nancy’s push for more donor engagement, the Community Foundation’s annual new gifts and pledges have more than doubled, reaching $72 million this fiscal year. Also, Nancy has helped the Community Foundation add 29 new Community Builders – philanthropists who create endowed charitable funds of $1 million or more. Last year, the Broward chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals honored Nancy as Outstanding Fundraising Executive of the Year.

As she lends her expertise to helping with Kelly’s transition, Nancy remains an important part of the Community Foundation’s work to connect people who care to causes that matter.

“Working with Kelly is a joy and I look forward to the opportunities my new role brings to grow local philanthropy in Broward,” Nancy said. “Thanks to the power of endowed giving, the philanthropic resources we build today will have a lasting impact on our community for generations to come.”
