• Over the past 35 years, Broward’s population has doubled.
• Our population is now larger than 13 states and is projected to grow to 2.3 million by 2030.
• The challenges and opportunities that come with rapid growth are more complex than ever before.

The big issues facing our community weren’t created overnight, and they won’t be solved overnight. It will take BOLD leaders, visionaries, entrepreneurs, and doers – like you – to drive real change and ensure our community thrives in a world that is changing before our eyes.

NOW: Create your endowed charitable Fund at the Community Foundation with a new gift today. The Foundation currently manages more than 480 Funds with total assets over $250 million customized to the personal values and charitable goals of each individual Fundholder. 

LATER: Create your endowed charitable Fund at the Community Foundation through a planned gift in your estate plan/will. Nearly 170 Legacy Society members have committed planned gifts to the Foundation totaling nearly $350 million.

• THE UNRESTRICTED FUND – An Endowed Unrestricted Fund enables you to remain on the cutting-edge and ensures your philanthropic dollars address a wide range of major issues across the community. It isn’t restricted (or limited) to a single organization or issue. Your fingerprints will be visible in all corners of Broward because your Fund will always focus support where it’s needed most. It evolves with the community as Broward’s needs change over time.

• THE FIELD OF INTEREST FUND – An Endowed Field of Interest Fund directs your philanthropic dollars to create lasting change on the specific cause (or causes) you care about most. For example, you may choose to create a Fund to support cancer research, animal welfare, and/or arts and culture. Grant dollars from your Fund will always be aligned with the most impactful opportunities to drive change within your specified focus area.

• THE DONOR-ADVISED FUND – An Endowed Donor-Advised Fund is like a charitable bank account for supporting the issues and organizations you care about. With a Donor-Advised Fund, you make recommendations about which community organizations and projects should receive grants from your Fund. The Foundation’s philanthropic experts vet those options, share exciting new opportunities you might otherwise miss and use your direction to guide grantmaking.

• OTHER TYPES OF FUNDS – The ways in which we can customize a Fund to fit your needs are nearly endless. In addition to the Funds above, some people establish Designated Funds to direct their giving to a specific organization. Others have created Scholarship Funds in their name or the name of a loved one to provide deserving students with support to further their education.
