Nonprofit Resource Center’s Mission
To provide resources that strengthen and support the leadership and management of Broward County’s nonprofit sector.
The Community Foundation of Broward established the Nonprofit Resource Center (NRC) in 1997 to provide capacity-building resources for nonprofit organizations. Through training programs, publications, and technical assistance, the NRC helps nonprofit professionals increase their knowledge and management skills.
The Foundation’s NRC program is one of only seven nonprofit management support programs in Florida. Our clients range from emerging nonprofits to well-established organizations. Groups who look to the NRC for assistance represent our diverse community. Following is information about the key resources we offer:
- Web Site
The NRC maintains a comprehensive web site through which nonprofit staff can review and register for training opportunities. They also can access helpful management tips, and link to other key websites. The NRC web site is an ideal resource for continual professional and personal development.
- Training Programs
The NRC offers a wide variety of practical, effective, and fun trainings on important issues facing nonprofits. These trainings focus on topics such as board development, executive leadership, and “core competencies,” such as strategic planning, financial management, and human resources, to name a few. Descriptions of the NRC trainings are in the workshops section of our website.
- Publications
The NRC publishes a quarterly newsletter, featuring articles on board development, leadership and management skills, technology, and many other topics. The current newsletter and previous issues are available online, or you may contact the NRC to request a copy.
Also, if you are looking to start a nonprofit organization, request a copy of the resource guide, Step by Step Guide to Nonprofit Incorporation in the State of Florida. This resource was published in collaboration with Florida Atlantic University and the Nonprofit Resource Institute.
- Technical Assistance
Informal phone consultations and one-on-one meetings with the director of the NRC are welcomed.
