Today the Community Foundation of Broward released its fiscal year 2008 IRS Form 990. This annual filing is required of all nonprofit organizations in the country.
"We consider it critical for transparency and accountability to make this document public as soon as it is filed with the IRS," stated Tony Timiraos, Chief FInancial Officer for the Foundation.
The Form 990 outlines the gifts to and grants from the Community Foundation last year. Just more than 5.3 million dollars were received in gifts and 4.2 million dollars was awarded in grants.
"Our continued ability to award such significant grant dollars to our community is due because of the generosity of our donors. We are honored to work with them and assist them with their philanthropy and steward their legacies," added Timiraos.
