Community Foundation of Broward hosted an informative breakfast on High Net Worth philanthropy for its Professional Advisors Council (PAC) on May 11. The featured speaker was David Ratcliffe, CAP, CTFA, who presented the latest findings from a U.S. Trust study that reveals the importance of charitable giving to High Net Worth individuals. It also examined some of the options used to fund charitable giving projects.

For the study, U.S. Trust randomly sampled individuals or households with a net worth of more than one million dollars nationwide. Key takeaways included:
  • Wealthy individuals continue to be more generous with their charitable giving and volunteer more hours than the general population
  • Eighty-six percent of respondents reported that they have great confidence or some confidence in charitable organizations’ ability to solve societal and global problems
  • The wealthiest five percent of Americans were responsible for 50 percent of nation’s philanthropy
Ratcliffe is a Managing Director and the National Philanthropic Solutions Sales Executive for U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. In this role, he oversees institutional and private philanthropy nonprofit sales and consulting nationwide.

Community Foundation of Broward’s PAC is composed of legal, wealth management, accounting and insurance professionals. They work closely with the Foundation to help clients achieve their philanthropic goals.
